This is a perfect make for your little beloved one this season.
The garment is crocheted in cotton yarn. This makes it comfortable for the toddlers to wear. It is not too warm like the wool and airy enough for spring or autum wear. One can always use wool yarn to make it apt for cold season.
This is really simple and versatile pattern. If you like to crochet in single colour, the garment will look like the one below.
I have used Laura knitting cotton in this project. I have fallen in love with this yarn. It is cotton and is soo soft to wear. The thread really gives proper shape to the garment. The yarn is best for in-between season wear.
Gauge information – Size: age- 1-2 yr
Hook size 4.5 mm / (UK 7). Make a swatch in order to confirm the right fit by making 15 half double crochets x 10 rows = 10 cm / 4” in width and 10 cm / 4” height.

- Hold both panels such that wrong side faces outside. Hold it like in the pic and whip st in 7 ch st. Neck measures about= 19cm
- Same way attach sides of both panels too. Hold both panels with the wrong side outside attached lengthwise to each other. Whip st the entire length.
Sleeves (make two )
- Ribbing pattern- ch6, turn, hdc in the 2nd ch from hook, hdc in each of next 4 ch.
- *Turn, ch2, hdc in back loops only in nxt 4 ch sp*. Repeat *to* 12 times more. Sew and join.
- Turn, ch1, sc in same ch st, sc in the next 29 ch so. Total sc=30

Attach sleeves to the body by placing sleeves and body lengthwise.
Neck edging
- Use hook size smaller. I have used 4mm hook here.
- Attach blue yarn at the top corner. Ch2 (this counts as 1st hdc), hdc in each of the next 83 ch. Sl st to join to the first hdc. Total hdc= 84
- Do not turn. ch2,* FPHDC in next ch, BPHDC in the next ch* rep *to* till the end of the round. Sl st to join.
- Do not turn. ch2, *FPHDC in next ch, BPHDC in next ch* rep *to* till the end of the round. Remember that the FPHDC should be worked above FPHDC of previous row and BPHDC should work above previous row BPHDC. Cut the yarn and weave in all the ends.
