I had the opportunity to test this wonderful dress pattern by Alanna Miall #Astraldress.
This was my first time ever testing a pattern for any crochet designer. As much as I was shocked with my own action, I am glad to admit that I enjoyed every bit of the process.
Alanna Miall is a passionate crochet designer and her personality is definitely depicted through her designs.
When she put out a tester call for her upcoming design, I was completely drawn to it. The dress was simply too elegant with intricate stitch work to miss. So, I applied!!
I was over the moon when she selected me as part of her tester team. The testers selected by her were really experienced crocheters who knew their craft well.
There are always a few hiccups when testing a pattern. The designer is usually testing for various size adaptations as well as making the pattern more user friendly with the help of their testing team. So, it’s the job of the testers to help the designer with fine tuning their pattern. From gauge differences to grammatical errors, everything comes into the responsibility of the tester.
The teater team did so well and brought out the beauty of this design through their own colour variations and adaptations.
See the dress in action. It has such beautiful fall to it. And the way the dress hugs the body is heavenly.
I used total 600 grams or 6 balls of vardhman cotone yarn in two colours and 3.5mm crochet hook. It took me about 4 weeks to finish the dress.
The pattern is really simple to make. It is a made to measure pattern which is adequately illustrated by the designer with various crochet charts and appropriate written instructions. Once I read through the pattern, I had rarely had to go back and check.
